Having lived in the high desert of Colorado for 4 years, I can feel the tension in the impending arrival of this storm. It’s good thing that the rainfall doesn’t arrive all at once on one day. There would be nothing left save for the largest rocks.

So true. But sometimes a lot *does* come down in a short time period. In late 2015 there was a massive downpour in the north part of the park. Scotty’s Castle was inundated. You can’t get there today and probably not for a couple of more years. Photos on the NPS site show the awesome effects of the flash flood.

We experienced a 1.5-inch rainfall one day in the desert and it was devastating. I’ll have to google the storm you mentioned.
