Oops! Meant to post this yesterday for Cee’s Flower of the Day for February 18, 2018. Better late than never, I suppose. Cee’s flower was a bearded iris and one had just popped up in the garden, so I thought I’d do another, too. 🙂
Allan of sweet ohm CA suggested a black and white treatment of the cactus flowers in my previous post might look good. Sounded interesting so here’s a re-do.
The first image is of impressive cactus flowers captured in the morning. The second, a scant few hours later, is of the same flowers that afternoon. What an amazing change in so short a time.
A cosmo, a honey bee and a cucumber beetle. Cosmopollentan 😉 .

I could see Cee taking a photo of this flower.
It is remarkable that in less than a week this iris went from a bud with a promising future to a beautiful blossom then to this, a tired, old flower nearly bleached of color.
In my previous post, I said, “Soon this bud will open…”. One day later, it did. Further, almost a year ago in a post with an iris, I responded to a comment and said, “Next year, if we are lucky, we will have some of these beauties of our own.” And here it is. For once, I ‘predicted’ the future :-).
